Energy Material Advances is an Open Access journal published in affiliation with Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). It is the first journal in the AAAS "Science Partner Journal" program that focuses on the interdisciplinary field of materials and energy. The editors-in-chief of the journal are Academician Lin Guo from Beihang University, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Academician Jun Liu, an academician of the US National Academy of Inventors, Washington Research Foundation Innovation Chair in Clean Energy Materials Science & Engineering, Professor of Chemical Engineering, and Campbell Chair of Materials Science & Engineering, Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Washington.

The journal is ranked in the CAS Zone 1 Top (Material Science) and is indexed in major databases including ESCI, Ei, Scopus, CAS, CSCD, DOAJ, INSPEC, and the SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System. Its 2025 JCR Impact Factor is 17.4 (ranking it in Q1 of Physics, Applied), and its 2025 CiteScore is 21.7.

Energy Material Advances is an interdisciplinary journal which provides an advanced platform for investigations and research in the fields of material, energy, environmental, photoelectric, electromechanical, and mechanical sciences, as well as physics, chemistry, and biology.
